Today was bad/good day

  • Nov. 12th, 2009 at 10:58 PM
No homogeneous bland day for me, no!

Bad - no central heating this morning

Good - Spawn #2's report card came in the post and it's the best report card I've ever seen in my life. They're graded 1 - 6, 1 being extra-awesome and 6 being 'that child shall hang!' It was pretty much a sheet of paper covered in ones. I think she got an upper 2 in one class because her homework was late once, but apart from that - she's scoring as awesome in everything. I bought her new jeans and inappropriate shoes as a reward.

Bad - I have put back on every single pound I lost over the summer. And I've lost what little muscle tone I had. Fat and flabby - not cute.

Good - I have two episodes of my favourite shows waiting to be watched on the media tank, and a movie I've been wanting to see forever was on sale in Asda :)

Bad - the scanners at work hate me. I can't use the little one because it runs off the terminal server, and the terminal server can never find my profile. My profile is apparently some kind of mystical being which can only be found if you're not looking for it. If I want to use the little scanner, I have to use someone else's log in details, and I'm not supposed to know anyone else's password. *ahem* So I have to use the big scanner. All I needed to do was scan in a glossy 5 x 7 photograph. Would it let me? HELL NO. Not only did it refuse to scan, it then scanned but cropped the image oddly, then scanned but did a whole 'you don't really want the sky to be blue, right?' thing, and the whole time it kept giving me an electric shock when I pressed the area on the touchscreen to set the file type. Me - I don't want a .tiff, I want a .pdf. Scanner - sure, here's the menu. Me - thanks. Scanner - *bzzzt* Me - MOTHERFUCKER!!! I ended up wearing a green rubber thimblette as protection, but it was too late: the tip of my right middle finger hurts in a cell damage kind of way.

Good - I had Sag Aloo for dinner. How does the not-so-local Indian restaurant make something as simple as spinach and potatoes taste so good? Sorcery! It has to be. I'm just at the perfectly full stage, when all is right with the world, and a nice long belch is almost as good as an orgasm.

Additions and improvements for Paid Feature

  • Nov. 12th, 2009 at 2:11 PM
We've made some additions and improvements to Notes!

The Notes feature has been added to two action-taking pages:
  • You can now add a Note directly on the Add a friend page - handy if you'd like to mark down where you met them or another name you know them by!
  • On the Ban and unban users page (under Account -> Privacy) you can now add a Note, including to a group of users all banned at the same time (so that next year you won't need to ask yourself "hey, why did I ban these guys?")

Other changes:
  • When you're viewing your existing Notes they're grayed out; click in a field to activate it to change the text (this page can be found from the header by using Profile -> Manage Notes)
  • Changes to editing:
    • When you're going to create a new Note but one already exists, you'll get a warning that you're editing an existing Note
    • You can now delete a note from the "Edit note" pop-up in the hover menu
    • You can now delete notes for multiple selected users on the Manage notes page
    • When you change Notes on "Ban|unban users" page, they can be edited and saved with "Save Changes" button

My boss has asked me to become the official twitterer...tweeter...twit...person who updates Twitter for our store, despite my having no experience with Twitter whatsoever besides stalking Misha Collins. So to prevent my embarrassing myself hugely and getting fired, I set up a Twitter account for myself to experiment on. (I immediately embarrassed myself less hugely by misusing the @ sign. Oops.) Since it's OUT THERE IN THE WORLD NOW, I suspect I will update it occasionally. Please come follow me so I can feel less like I am talking to myself? I would be eager to return the favor. This is, after all, very srs bsns. FOR WORK.

C'est moi, although I'm sure you could have figured that out.

ETA: Those of you who are Twitter-enabled, if you could do me an extra super big favor and reply to the latest tweet on @dieselbookstore, I would be obscenely grateful. Then my boss will know I'm earning my keep! (If you want to follow the store, too, that would additionally be awesome.)

Crossovers, anyone?

  • Nov. 12th, 2009 at 1:16 PM
Okay, one more time! :P

I just had a thought: It would be entirely possible to have Star Trek Voyager x-over with SG-1! In particular I am looking for angsty episode fics where a Voy episode is re-created using the SG-1 team instead of Voyager. It would be cool if SG-1 ended up on a planet from the Voyager series, and one of my fav. Voyager eps was Course Oblivion, so if there was a Jack/Daniel fic based on that episode, that would make my day! :) I would be surprised if there were no SG-1/Voyager fics!

TS/SG-1 Crossovers

  • Nov. 12th, 2009 at 11:10 AM
I am looking for any Sentinel/SG-1 SLASH Crossovers where it's Jack/Blair and Jim/Daniel (maybe just them switching partners for one time), my only squicks are Mpreg and Het. Bring on the links! :D

New Heyer story: "Natural"

  • Nov. 11th, 2009 at 9:48 PM
Continuing my trend of only writing in fandoms with twelve or fewer members, I've posted a new story to my website, based on Georgette Heyer's novel The Foundling.

Natural
Gilly/Gideon -- NC-17 -- 3,300 words
Once again, Gilly fixes everything.
Warnings, if any (highlight to read): No particular warning.

Thanks to [info - personal] astolat and Tradescant for beta.

Another lost fic request..

  • Nov. 12th, 2009 at 2:08 AM
Ok, two things really. One is finding the fic, the second is finding out if its still WIP or if the author intends to finish it.

First, the fic.  Its an SG1/Anita Blake crossover. Jack is a werewolf alpha and Daniel is his Lupar. Richard attempts to rape Daniel in a bar of all places and Jack is seriously not a happy puppy (pun intended).  I think I found the link from this jouranl, but I'm damned if I can find it again.

Anyone got better Googlefu than me (and, really, that isn't difficult)?

Thanks

Heh...

my dreamwidth default icon has been changed to some guy in a baseball cap. I look - as always  mahvelous.

[info]destina gets my entire raison d'rpf right here. (Talking about J2, but it totally works for me more broadly.)

In other news, so I ended up writing an alternate ending for In Writing, haha -- it splits off where Adam comes home and is 100000% more cracktastic:

In Writing alternate ending, adult, explicit )

You can also read this entry on Dreamwidth (comment count unavailable comments)
Stolen from [info]sf_drama, but seriously, people, some of you read this and didn't tell us?

The New York Times would like us to know groundhog day could be nigh.
A pair of otherwise distinguished physicists have suggested that the hypothesized Higgs boson, which physicists hope to produce with the collider, might be so abhorrent to nature that its creation would ripple backward through time and stop the collider before it could make one, like a time traveler who goes back in time to kill his grandfather.

First, a speculated bird breaks the instrument of our eventual doom, now, we could finally live out all those fanfic and really know how Bill Murray felt.

So, anyone see any blue police boxes hanging about? You know, in case we inadvertently tear a hole in space and time. I'll be frank here; if you cannot keep a bird from breaking your equipment--a bird for the love of God--I am not certain you should be playing with the fabric of reality willy-nilly, mmmkay? Just a thought.

As I said in my previous post...I am a returning member to this fandom. Part of the reason for my return is my interest in finding and rereading some of the stories that I read when I was first around.

One of those stories, the name and author (and most of the plot?) I have forgotten, features Jack and Daniel getting caught/kindapped/stuck in some kind of alien zoo of sorts, I think they end up figuring out. There is some sort of weird light/sound thing that happens every so often and that makes them have to masturbate to relieve themselves...which eventually leads to two to having sex (I think). Presumably they escape or are rescued, but I don't remember much else.
It is also important to say that this story is very likely several years old minimum as it's been about that long since I've been in the fandom.
any help anyone could offer would be much appreciated.
